They hover as a cloud of witnesses above this Nation.
Henry Ward Beecher

And they who for their country die
Shall fill an honored grave,
For glory lights the soldier’s tomb,
And beauty weeps the brave.
Joseph Drake

With the tears a Land hath shed
Their graves should ever be green.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
Lee Greenwood

I’m a service member, and I loved this till I got to that horrible, appalling Lee Greenwood song. God, do I hate that damned song, especially when it’s so close to that wonderful photograph—wonderful in a sorrowful kind of way.
Still, I love the site and have found the pictures of horses cheering. Thank for all that!
